WHEREAS, RCW 36.70A.110 provides for the designation of urban growth areas as part of the County's comprehensive plan; and

WHEREAS, RCW 36.70A.130 provides for the continuing review and amendment of comprehensive plans, including urban growth area designations, and provides for consideration of comprehensive plan amendments through an annual amendment process; and

WHEREAS, the proposed amendments are de minimus and are intended to correct minor boundary or mapping inconsistencies and do not modify the goals, policies, or overall growth strategy of the Lewis County Comprehensive Plan; and

WHEREAS, a duly noticed public hearing was held by the Lewis County Planning Commission on June 9, 2026, at which the Planning Commission considered testimony and voted to approve a recommendation, Exhibit A, for transmittal to the Board of County Commissioners concerning minor technical corrections to the Urban Growth Area boundary; and

WHEREAS, publication of notice and a hearing before the Board of County Commissioners is required in order to receive public testimony and consider formal action on the proposed minor technical amendments to the Lewis County Urban Growth Area boundary; and

WHEREAS, Lewis County will hold a public hearing in the Commissioners' Hearing Room at or after 10 a.m. Oct. 6, 2026. Written comments may be submitted beginning at 8 a.m. Sept. 22, 2026, and must be received by 4 p.m. Oct. 5, 2026, by emailing Natalie Kamieniecki, Senior Long Range Planner, at natalie.kamieniecki@lewiscountywa.gov or postal mail to Community Development, c/o Natalie Kamieniecki, 351 NW. North St., Chehalis, WA 98532.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Board is hereby instructed to proceed with all appropriate and necessary notifications, postings and publications as required by law.
