RATIFY A CONTRACT WITH SCHWIESOW CONSTRUCTION INC. FOR LEWIS COUNTY PERMANENT SHELTER RENOVATIONS, PROJECT #31-2408 CONSTRUCTION
WHEREAS, Lewis County is renovating 2015 NE Kresky Ave., Chehalis, into a permanent night-by-night shelter for people experiencing homelessness, and has received a direct appropriation from the state Housing Trust Fund for that purpose; and
WHEREAS, Lewis County published a formal call for bids for the project via OpenGov, in the County's newspaper of record, and in several additional publications; and
WHEREAS, the bids received, from lowest to highest price, were as follows:

The county's cost estimate had been $160,000, including contingencies; and
WHEREAS, the Facilities Administrator reviewed bidder responsibility paperwork from Schwiesow Construction in accordance with the call for bids and determined that Schwiesow Construction was the lowest responsible bidder. He awarded them the contract and executed a contract for their work, subject to ratification by the Board of County Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, after the award, Lewis County received new information from bidders on a separate aspect of the project (fencing) suggesting that the concrete-pouring work in this contract should be slightly increased; and
WHEREAS, that a proposed change order in the amount of $5,900 is now contemplated to cover the additional concrete pouring.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners ratifies the contract with Schwiesow Construction Inc. for the Lewis County Permanent Shelter renovations project, Project #31-2408 Construction; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners ratifies the change order of $5,900 for additional concrete pouring.
