Summary:

A property owner has requested the vacation of unimproved Washington Street, lying north of Horsley Avenue in Centralia UGA.  Resolution 23-161, passed by the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) on May 16th, 2023, directed the County Road Engineer to examine that portion of undeveloped Washington Street, and report his opinion to the BOCC.  On May 31st, 2023, the Engineer's Report on the matter of the proposed vacation was filed with the BOCC.  This resolution sets June 27, 2023, at or after the hour of 10:00 a.m., in the BOCC Hearing Room on the 2nd floor of the Historic Courthouse in Chehalis, Washington, as the time and place for the hearing on the County Engineer's Report.  The resolution also calls for the Clerk of the Board to proceed with all the necessary notifications, posting, and publication

WHEREAS, RCW 36.87 allows for the vacation of a county road that is found useless to the needs of the County pending a report of the County Road Engineer; and

WHEREAS, Resolution 23-161, passed by the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) on May 16, 2023, directed the County Road Engineer to examine an undeveloped Washington Street and report his findings to the BOCC; and

WHEREAS, as required by RCW 36.87, the report of the County Road Engineer on the matter of the proposed vacation of the following described portion of Washington Street was filed in the office of the BOCC on May 31, 2023, to wit:

All of undeveloped Washington Street lying northerly of Horsley Avenue in Section 36, Township 15 North, Range 3 West, W.M.; and

WHEREAS, the report and all related materials having been reviewed by the BOCC and found appropriate for further proceedings.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that on June 27, 2023, at or after 10:00 a.m. in the BOCC Hearing Room on the second floor of the Historic Courthouse in Chehalis, Washington, has been fixed as the time and place for the hearing on the County Road Engineer's Report, when and where all persons may appear and be heard upon report and upon the matter of the vacation of that undeveloped road described above. Interested parties are encouraged to check the Commissioners' hearing schedule online at https://lewiscountywa.gov/offices/commissioners/agenda-calendar as the hearing date approaches for updated details; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Board is hereby instructed to proceed with all necessary notifications, posting, and publication.
