Resolution

WHEREAS, the Lewis County Coroner’s Office is accepting bids from funeral homes based in Lewis County that are interested in handling the cremation process for indigent (unclaimed) decedents, as outlined in RCW 36.24.155; and

WHEREAS, sealed bids must be delivered to the Lewis County Coroner's Office (585 NW Center St, Chehalis, Wash., 98532) by 5 p.m. Aug. 19, 2026; and

WHEREAS, bids will be opened at or after 11 a.m. Aug. 26, 2026, in the Board of County Commissioners' Hearing Room on the second floor of the Historic Courthouse at 351 NW North Street in Chehalis.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the BOCC hereby issues a call for bids for the cremation process for indigent (unclaimed) decedents; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the BOCC directs the BOCC Clerk of the Board to proceed with all appropriate and necessary notifications for said purpose.
