Summary:

The property owner abutting unimproved right of way known as Fagley Road # 609, in Centralia, has requested the County vacate this right of way. Resolution 26-159 passed by the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) on May 19th, 2026, directed the County Engineer to examine that portion of undeveloped Washington Street, and report his opinion to the BOCC.  On May 27th, 2026, the Engineer's Report on the matter of the proposed vacation was filed with the BOCC.  This resolution sets July 14th, 2026, at or after the hour of 10:00 a.m., in the BOCC Hearing Room on the 2nd floor of the Historic Courthouse in Chehalis, Washington, as the time and place for the hearing on the County Engineer's Report.  The resolution also calls for the Clerk of the Board to proceed with all the necessary notifications, posting, and publication.

Resolution

WHEREAS, RCW 36.87 allows for the vacation of a county road that is found useless to the needs of the County pending a report of the County Engineer; and

WHEREAS, Resolution 26-159, passed by the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) on May 19th, 2026, directed the County Engineer to examine all that part of the unused unmaintained Fagley Rd #609 and report his findings to the BOCC; and

WHEREAS, as required by RCW 36.87, the report of the County Engineer on the matter of the proposed vacation of Fagley Road #609 was filed in the office of the BOCC on May 27, 2026, to wit:

All that part of the following described portion of the undeveloped right of way, beginning at a point that bears S47°49'W 1470.4 feet from the Quarter Section corner common to Sections 3 & 4, T14N, R3W, W.M., running thence in a Westerly direction to the East line of the W 1/2, of the NW 1/4, of the SE 1/4, Section 4, T14N R3W, W.M., known as Fagley Road #609 in Centralia, WA; and

WHEREAS, the report and all related materials have been reviewed by the BOCC and found appropriate for further proceedings; and

WHEREAS, written comment may be submitted in person at the BOCC, 351 NW North Street, Room 210, Chehalis, WA 98532 or via email at bocc@lewiscountywa.gov beginning at 10 a.m. June 16, 2026. Written comment must be clearly marked “Written comment for July 14, 2026, hearing” and must be received by 10 a.m. July 9th, 2026.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that on July 14th, 2026, at or after 10 a.m. in the BOCC Hearing Room on the second floor of the Historic Courthouse in Chehalis, Washington, has been fixed as the time and place for the hearing on the County Engineer's Report, when and where all persons may appear and be heard upon report and upon the matter of the vacation of that undeveloped road described above. NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Board is hereby instructed to proceed with all necessary notifications, posting, and publication.
