WHEREAS, Section 35A.14.296 of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) provides a statutory process for the annexation of unincorporated territory through an interlocal agreement (ILA) between a county and any code city within the county; and

WHEREAS, on August 26, 2025, the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners approved Resolution 25-252 authorizing the Director of the Department of Community Development to commence negotiations with the City of Vader towards an ILA for Vader to annex territory within its Urban Growth Area (UGA); and

WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 35A.14.296 a hearing before the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners is required prior to adoption of the ILA for annexation by Vader within its UGA.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that a hearing before the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners is hereby scheduled at or after 10 a.m. June 16, 2026, to receive testimony concerning the proposed ILA between Lewis County and the City of Vader for annexation by Vader within its UGA; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Board is hereby instructed to proceed with all appropriate and necessary notifications, posting and publication for the changes as required by law.
