Summary:

An emergency closure of Salzer Valley Road from Mile Post (MP) 4.58 to MP 5.50 is necessary due to a slide at approximately MP 5.3. The closure began Sunday, March 1, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.

The Public Works Department has posted the required signs on both sides of the closure, and has notified 911 Communications and the local fire department.

The road will be open for local access up to, but not beyond the slide area at MP 5.3.

Resolution

WHEREAS, RCW 47.48.010 gives authority to the county legislative authority to close roads for a period of time; and

WHEREAS, Salzer Valley Road has a slide at approximately MP 5.3 making the road unsafe for through traffic; and

WHEREAS, the emergency closure of Salzer Valley Road is necessary until the slide area has been repaired and deemed safe for travel; and

WHEREAS, a reasonable detour for through traffic is available via Grimes Road; and

WHEREAS, Salzer Valley Road will remain open for local access up to, but not beyond, the slide point at MP 5.3.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED pursuant to RCW 47.48.010 and .020, beginning at 2:00 p.m. on March 1, 2020, Salzer Valley Road from MP 4.58 to MP 5.50 shall be closed to all through traffic.
