Summary:

An Environmental Assessment has been conducted for the Lewis County Water District No. 1 New Water Reservoir project, Randle, WA.  The Lewis County Public Works Department determined that the project will have no significant impact on the human environment. A Notice of Finding of No Significant Impact and Intent to Request Release of Funds from the Washington Department of Commerce Community Development Block Program (CDBG) is necessary to inform the public and begin the 15 day local comment period.

Resolution

WHEREAS, the State Department of Commerce (Commerce) has awarded $900,000 through their Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) General Purpose Grant program to Lewis County Department of Public Works for the Lewis County Water District No. 1 New Water Reservoir; and

WHEREAS, an Environmental Assessment is necessary to meet the requirements of the grant; and

WHEREAS, The Lewis County Public Works Department conducted an assessment and determined that the project will have no significant impact on the human environment, and therefore, an Environmental Impact Statement under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (PL 91-190) is not required; and

WHEREAS, a notice to the public of the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) on the Environment and the Notice of Intent to Request Release of Funds must be published to invite agencies, groups and persons to submit written comments.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners finds the notice in the best public interest and directs the Clerk of the Board to publish the Notice to the Public of No Significant Impact on the Environment and Intent to Request Release of Funds for the Lewis County Water District No. 1 New Water Reservoir Project, Randle, Wash.
