Summary:

The Veterans’ Advisory Board was established by Resolution #06-189. The Lewis County Veterans' Advisory Board bylaws state that membership on the board shall be comprised of no less than seven regular members and two alternate members.

With two regular positions and two alternate positions vacant, it is proposed to appoint Gregory Lassila as a new regular voting member of the Veterans’ Advisory Board (VAB) through June 30, 2025. This will leave one regular vacant position and two alternate vacant positions to be filled after further recruiting.

Resolution

WHEREAS, the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) has reviewed the memo listing a recommendation from the Veterans' Advisory Board (VAB) to appoint a new regular member to the VAB; and

WHEREAS, Resolution #06-189 established the Lewis County VAB, and the bylaws state that membership on the board shall be comprised of no less than seven regular members and two alternate members; and

WHEREAS, Gregory Lassila has expressed interest and submitted an application to serve on the VAB as a new regular voting member; and

WHEREAS, with two regular positions and two alternate positions vacant, it is recommended by the VAB to appoint Gregory Lassila as a regular voting member of the Veterans’ Advisory Board (VAB) effective July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2025; and

WHEREAS, this will leave one regular vacant position and two alternate vacant positions to be filled after further recruiting; and

WHEREAS, it appears to be in the best public interest to appoint Gregory Lassila to the VAB.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the BOCC hereby appoints Gregory Lassila as a regular member of the Veterans’ Advisory Board effective July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2025.
