WHEREAS, RCW 67.28.1817 states that a municipality with a population of 5,000 (five thousand) or more should establish a Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC); and

WHEREAS, the committee must include at least five members, including at least two members who are representatives of businesses required to collect tax under this chapter (“providers”) and at least two involved in activities authorized to be funded by lodging tax revenue (“users”); and

WHEREAS, Trent Richardson notified the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) that he has parted ways from the White Pass Scenic Byway group and therefore no longer meets the requirements to serve as a "user" representative, creating a vacancy; and

WHEREAS, Winlock resident Mary Garrison, whose involvement with the South County Chamber of Commerce qualifies her to serve in the "user" position, has expressed an interest and willingness to serve on the committee; and

WHEREAS, it is in the best public interest to appoint Mary Garrison to fill the LTAC vacancy.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the BOCC hereby appoints Mary Garrison to fill the remainder of Trent Richardson's unexpired LTAC term through Dec. 31, 2023.
