APPROVE AN AMENDED TELECOMMUNICATIONS AGREEMENT WITH TOLEDOTEL TO INSTALL FIBER OPTIC INFRASTRUCTURE IN WINLOCK AND THE SURROUNDING RURAL AREAS TO IMPLEMENT A $23.5 MILLION WASHINGTON STATE BROADBAND OFFICE GRANT
WHEREAS, Lewis County, in partnership with ToledoTel and with support from the Lewis County PUD and the Economic Alliance of Lewis County, obtained a $23.5 million grant to install fiber optic broadband infrastructure in and around Winlock; and
WHEREAS, as part of the application process, Lewis County had entered into a Contingent Telecommunications Agreement concerning how ToledoTel would install, monitor and maintain this broadband infrastructure if the grant application succeeded; and
WHEREAS, certain updates to the Telecommunications Agreement were needed to reflect that the application was successful and to import the grant's requirements into the Agreement; and
WHEREAS, Lewis County and ToledoTel desire to make those changes to implement the Agreement and start work on the broadband project; and
WHEREAS, the resulting broadband will be extremely beneficial to the residents of Winlock and the surrounding areas, and is in the public interest for all citizens of Lewis County.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners finds the Amended Telecommunications Agreement in the public interest and directs the County Manager to sign on behalf of Lewis County.
