APPROVE RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE LEWIS COUNTY CITIZENS’ COMMISSION ON SALARIES FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS (“SALARY COMMISSION”) TO PROVIDE SALARY ADJUSTMENTS FOR THE ELECTED OFFICES OF AUDITOR, ASSESSOR, CLERK, CORONER, PROSECUTING ATTORNEY AND TREASURER
WHEREAS, the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) established the Lewis County Citizens’ Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials (“Salary Commission”) via Resolution 01-317 on Sept. 10, 2001, and reconvened the Salary Commission via Resolution 19-152 on May 20, 2019, in accordance with RCW 36.17.024; and; and
WHEREAS, the BOCC appointed 10 individuals to the Salary Commission. Six of the 10 members were selected by lot by the County Auditor from among those registered voters eligible to vote at the time the persons are selected for appointment. The remaining four were appointed to represent each of the following four sectors: Business, professional personnel management, legal profession and organized labor; and
WHEREAS, the Salary Commission held open public meetings during which its members reviewed existing salaries for elected offices in Lewis County ; and
WHEREAS, the Salary Commission presented its recommendations to the BOCC in a 31-page Compensation Report (exhibit A) dated Aug. 5, 2020, during the BOCC's Aug. 17, 2020, Business Meeting; and
WHEREAS, the BOCC approved the Salary Commission's recommendations to provide salary adjustments to the elected offices of Auditor, Assessor, Clerk, Coroner, Prosecuting Attorney and Treasurer during open public meetings on Oct. 6, 2020, and Oct. 19, 2020.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the BOCC hereby sets the salaries for the elected offices of Auditor, Assessor, Clerk, Coroner, Prosecuting Attorney and Treasurer at the following, effective Oct. 7, 2020:
