AUTHORIZE THE SIGNATURE OF MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN LEWIS COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT/ LEWIS COUNTY DISTRICT COURT AND THE SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON FAIRGROUNDS TO PROVIDE SAFE, SPACE FOR A SOCIAL DISTANCING JURY SELECTION OF LEWIS COUNTY RESIDENTS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
WHEREAS, COVID-19, a respiratory disease that can result in serious illness or death, is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which is a new strain of coronavirus that had not been previously identified in humans and can easily spread from person to person; and
WHEREAS, funding is available through the Department of Commerce CARES ACT funding to provide a safe space for social distancing jury selection to Lewis County residents during the COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, It would be in the best interest of Lewis County residents to enter into an MOU with The Southwest Washington Fairgrounds for use of the Community Events Building which has been identified as the most suitable venue in the area to provide a safe jury selection.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the MOU between Lewis County Superior Court and Lewis County District Court from July 22nd is hereby approved and the Southwest Washington Fair Manager is authorized to sign the same.
