Summary:

Requesting authorization to purchase $95,000 radio microwave link.  This link is between Crego Hill and the Law and Justice Center.  The current link is well past its life expectancy and parts are no longer available.  The current link allows over 80% of communications for the west side of the county to come into the 911 Communications Center.

Resolution

WHEREAS, Lewis County 911 Communications request authorization to utilize $95,000 of the existing fund balance to purchase a microwave system upgrade; and

WHEREAS, this would replace the existing system that is well past its life expectancy and new parts for repair or replacement are not available.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (1) approves Lewis County 911 Communications’ request to use $95,000 from its existing fund balance to purchase a microwave system upgrade and (2) authorizes E911 Administrator Scott Smitherman to sign on behalf of Lewis County.
