Resolution

WHEREAS, Lewis County (County) operates the South Lewis County Airport, a general aviation airport; and

WHEREAS, the County is receiving a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to fund the design and construction of a project to install an automated weather observation system (AWOS) at the South Lewis County Airport; and

WHEREAS, the grant from the FAA will fund 95 percent of the project cost for the design and construction of the South Lewis County Airport AWOS Installation Project; and

WHEREAS, the WSDOT Aviation Division has conditionally approved an Airport Aid grant to fund the design and construction of a project to install an AWOS at the South Lewis County Airport; and

WHEREAS, the grant from the WSDOT Aviation Division would fund 2.5 percent of the cost for design and construction of the South Lewis County Airport AWOS Installation Project; and

WHEREAS, Lewis County’s 2026 budget, as approved by the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), includes matching funds for 2.5 percent of the cost for design and construction of the South Lewis County Airport AWOS Installation Project; and

WHEREAS, the application for the Airport Aid grant requires a resolution indicating County BOCC support for the project.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Lewis County commits to providing matching funds for the WSDOT Aviation Aid Grant for design and construction of an AWOS at the South Lewis County Airport and the recitals set forth above are adopted as findings supporting the action of the BOCC in adopting this resolution.
