Resolution

WHEREAS, RCW 67.28.1817 states that a municipality with a population of 5,000 (five thousand) or more should establish a Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC); and

WHEREAS, the committee must include an equal number of individuals who represent businesses required to collect tax under this chapter (“providers”) and individuals involved in activities authorized to be funded by lodging tax revenue (“users”); and

WHEREAS, the terms for two members -- Dean Croshaw, who represented a "provider" in his role with Packwood Station, and Harry Bhagwandin, who represented a "user" in his role with Lewis County Community Trails -- have expired, creating two vacancies; and

WHEREAS, Harry Bhagwandin, who now represents Shady Grove Retreat Center, and Jessica Scogin, who represents the Fire Mountain Arts Council, have expressed interest in filling the vacant provider and user roles, respectively; and

WHEREAS, it is in the public's best interest to appoint individuals to serve on LTAC in four-year, staggered terms, with half of the appointments ending in even years and the other half ending in odd years; and

WHEREAS, returning to staggered terms requires adjustments to term lengths.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the BOCC hereby makes the following appointments to the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, effective immediately:
