Summary:

This resolution will establish gross tonnage on various bridges in unincorporated Lewis County, Washington. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has mandated that load rating calculations be performed for all bridges on the National Bridge Inventory. After reviewing these reports, the County Engineer recommends changing the postings on five bridges, which include:

• Bridge No. 5 Wildwood Road MP 0.05
• Bridge No. 10 Wildwood Road MP 5.19
• Bridge No. 25 Boistfort Road MP 1.09
• Bridge No. 28 Lincoln Creek Road MP 8.57
• Bridge No. 199 Leonard Road MP 2.52
• Bridge No. 200 Frase Road MP 0.22

Resolution

WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has mandated that load rating calculations be performed for all bridges on the National Bridge Inventory; and

WHEREAS, FHWA is requiring Local Agencies evaluate all tonnage for Special Highway Vehicles (SHV); and

WHEREAS, FHWA is requiring Local Agencies also evaluate State legal trucks, which includes the WA-105 truck configuration; and

WHEREAS, staff evaluation has determined that one Lewis County bridge cannot safely handle legal SHV highway loads, three additional bridges cannot safely handle legal SHV and WA-105 loads, and one bridge previously posted can safely handle legal loads; and

WHEREAS, the County Engineer has reviewed these reports and other facts pertinent to the bridges and recommends a posting for each bridge to limit gross tonnage on the bridge.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED pursuant to authority of RCW 46.61.450, that the following bridges in Lewis County be closed to travel by all vehicles having a gross tonnage in excess of those below, and posting of said limitations shall be done in compliance with RCW 46.61.450:
