WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners, in Ordinance 1367, directed the Department of Community Development to form an advisory group to evaluate the effectiveness of the short term rental requirements and propose additional measures as appropriate to manage short term rentals; and

WHEREAS, the Short Term Rental Advisory Group shall be advisory to the county staff and the Lewis County Planning Commission and Advisory Group recommendations shall be nonbinding to the Planning Commission and Board of County Commissioners; and

WHEREAS, establishment of a Short Term Rental Advisory Group and adoption the bylaws (Exhibit A) conform to Chapter 2.50, Advisory Groups, LCC (Ordinance 1369).

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the Board of County Commissioners finds it in the public interest to establish a Short Term Rental Advisory Group, pursuant to Chapter 2.50, Advisory Groups, LCC (Ordinance 1369), and to adopt the Short Term Rental Advisory Group Bylaws, as shown in Exhibit A; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Board of County Commissioners directs the Clerk of the Board to advertise for Advisory Group members and to accept applications December 2 through December 23, 2025; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Board of County Commissioners directs the Lewis County Planning Commission to review the applications for the Short Term Rental Advisory Group and submit recommendations for each position to the Board of County Commissioners by January 30, 2026.
