WHEREAS, in May 1999, then-Governor Gary Locke approved a five-county consortium - Pacific Mountain ("PacMtn") with Lewis, Thurston, Pacific, Mason and Grays Harbor counties - officially establishing a Workforce Investment Area, as allowed per the Workforce Investment Act of 1998; and

WHEREAS, the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved the Pacific Mountain Workforce Investment interlocal agreement between Lewis, Thurston, Pacific, Mason and Grays Harbor counties via Resolution 99-506 on October 25, 1999; and

WHEREAS, the interlocal agreement establishes the legal and governance framework for the Pacific Mountain Workforce Development Council and its Consortium of county partners; and

WHEREAS, PacMtn has updated the interlocal agreement to ensure compliance with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA); and

WHEREAS, it appears to be in the public's best interest to approve the amended interlocal agreement.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the BOCC hereby approves the Interlocal Agreement for Pacific Mountain Workforce Region Workforce Investment Act Implementation, attached hereto as Exhibit A, for the workforce development region that includes Lewis Thurston, Pacific, Mason and Grays Harbor counties.
