NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER ADOPTION OF INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN CITY OF CHEHALIS AND LEWIS COUNTY FOR ANNEXATION BY CHEHALIS WITHIN ITS URBAN GROWTH AREA
WHEREAS, section 35A.14.472 of the Revised Code of Washington ("RCW") provides a statutory process for the annexation of unincorporated territory through an interlocal agreement ("ILA") between a county and any code city within the county; and
WHEREAS, on August 26, 2025 the Lewis County Board of County Commissioner approved Resolution 25-233 authorizing the Director of the Lewis County Department of Community Development to commence negotiations with the City of Chehalis towards an ILA for Chehalis to annex territory within its urban growth area ("UGA"); and
WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 35A.14.472, a joint hearing before the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners and City of Chehalis City Council is required prior to adoption of an ILA for annexation by Chehalis within its UGA.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that a hearing before the BOCC (which shall be a joint hearing with the City of Chehalis City Council) is hereby scheduled at or after 5 p.m. on October 20, 2025, to receive testimony concerning the proposed ILA between Lewis County and City of Chehalis for annexation by Chehalis within its UGA; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the BOCC is hereby instructed to proceed with all appropriate and necessary notifications, posting and publication for the changes as required by law.
