WHEREAS, RCW 35A.14, Annexation by Code Cities, provides alternative methods for cities to annex territory within the unincorporated urban growth area; and

WHEREAS, the City of Chehalis is a code city planning under RCW 36.70A; and

WHEREAS, section 35A.14.472 of the Revised Code of Washington ("RCW") provides a statutory process for the annexation of unincorporated territory through an interlocal agreement between a county and any code city within the county.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners finds it in the public interest to negotiate annexation by the City of Chehalis of unincorporated territory in its urban growth area and authorizes the Director of the Lewis County Department of Community Development to commence negotiations with the City of Chehalis.
