Summary:

The Department of Commerce contracts with Lewis County through the Consolidated Homeless Grant (CHG) to oversee the administration of grant money to subcontractors for services provided to those who are literally homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness in Lewis County.

The purpose of this subcontract is to provide funding for Comunicativo to help prevent evictions by paying rent and utility costs for eligible Lewis County households. As a By-and-For agency, Comunicativo serves renters with limited English proficiency, focusing on households earning no more than 80% of the area median income.

Resolution

WHEREAS, the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) has reviewed Contract #C16-0255-25 between Comunicativo and Lewis County; and

WHEREAS, Comunicativo is a By-and-For agency specializing in services for renters with limited or no English proficiency; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Commerce contracts with Lewis County through the Consolidated Homeless Grant to oversee the administration of grant money to subcontractors for services provided to those who are literally homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness in Lewis County; and

WHEREAS, the purpose of this subcontract is to prevent evictions by covering rent and/or utility costs for eligible Lewis County households residing in their units with incomes at or below 80% of the Area Median Income per Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines; and

WHEREAS, the contract duration is July 1, 2025, to September 30, 2025; and

WHEREAS, the total maximum consideration of this contract is $58,811; and

WHEREAS, it appears to be in the best public interest to authorize the execution of said contract.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the BOCC hereby approves Contract #C16-0255-25 to provide funding up to $58,811 for the purpose of subcontracting with Comunicativo to provide rental and utility assistance to eligible persons in Lewis County; and the BOCC authorizes the Director of Public Health & Social Services to sign the same.
