Summary:

The US Department of Homeland Security, through the Washington State Military Department, provides FEMA Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) funds to local jurisdictions and tribes with emergency management programs. This grant is for $39,469.00 and was approved under Resolution Number 24-403. This resolution is updating the contract as required by Washington State Military Department. 

The update to this contact includes: extending the contract period to November 30, 2025 with changes in the work plan, which adjusts the purchasing items to better align with the potential for limited funding in the coming year, as well as updating information due to organizational changes within the Department.

Resolution

WHEREAS, the US Department of Homeland Security, through the Washington State Military Department, provides Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) funds to local jurisdictions and tribes with emergency management programs; and

WHEREAS, the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved grant funding totaling $39,469.00 from the Washington Military Department for the FEMA grant via Resolution 24-403; and

WHEREAS, the Washington State Military Department requires changes to the agreement, including the following: extending the contract period to November 30, 2025, with changes in the work plan, which adjusts the purchasing items to better align with the potential for limited funding in the coming year, as well as updating information due to organizational changes within the department; and

WHEREAS, the BOCC has reviewed the amended agreement between Lewis County, Washington, and the Washington Military Department for the FEMA Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) and finds it is in the public's best interest to proceed with the amendment; and

WHEREAS, the contract amount of $39,469.00 has already been included in the budget.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the BOCC hereby approves the amended agreement between Lewis County and the Washington State Military Department, providing $39,469.00 in EMPG funds; and authorizes BOCC Chair Scott Brummer to sign Amended Agreement #25-139 on behalf of Lewis County.
