Resolution

WHEREAS, Lewis County has a Civil Service Commission as outlined in RCW 41.14; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Ryan of Chehalis has expressed an interest and a willingness to continue serving on the Civil Service Commission beyond the December 31, 2024, expiration of his term; and

WHEREAS, RCW 41.14 prescribes that members serve six-year staggered terms; and

WHEREAS, setbacks in the appointment process over the years have disrupted the six-year, staggered terms required as per RCW 41.14; and

WHEREAS, the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) wishes to reappoint Kevin Ryan and ensure the staggered terms required by RCW 41.14 are re-established; and

WHEREAS, as a citizen of the United States who is an elector of Lewis County and who is a resident of Lewis County now -- and has been for at least two years immediately preceding this appointment -- Kevin Ryan meets the statutory requirements for the position.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the BOCC hereby reappoints Kevin Ryan to the Civil Service Commission effective for a term expiring December 31, 2030.
