Resolution
APPROVE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE TO REIMBURSE THE PURCHASE AND RENOVATION OF THE LEWIS COUNTY HOMELESS SHELTER
WHEREAS, Lewis County obtained a direct appropriation from the Housing Trust Fund to reimburse the purchase and renovation of 2015 NE Kresky Ave. for use as a permanent night-by-night shelter for people experiencing homelessness; and
WHEREAS, the appropriation will be delivered to Lewis County through a reimbursement contract with the Washington Department of Commerce (Commerce) and associated real property documents; and
WHEREAS, Commerce has many requirements to fulfill before the contract can be signed and the real property transaction closed, and the project has progressed to the point where Lewis County can sign the contract in anticipation of closing; and
WHEREAS, some steps still remain before closing, but signing and delivering the documents to Commerce now will allow Commerce to sign more expeditiously when closing occurs.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the attached Contract and real property documents - namely, a Covenant, Deed of Trust, and Note - are all approved. The County Manager or his written designee shall sign these documents according to instructions from Commerce. The County Manager or his designee is further empowered to work with the title company and proceed with signing or approving the customary documents to close the resulting real estate transaction to obtain the appropriation funds; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that when closing is set to occur, Lewis County recognizes and consents to Commerce inserting the correct dates corresponding to when that agency's authorized representative signs, without needing an additional round of signatures or initials from the County Manager or his designee to approve the change or insertion of the correct dates.
DONE IN OPEN SESSION this 15th day of October, 2024.
