Resolution

WHEREAS, this agreement will provide Medicaid Reentry Services to support reimbursement of medical expenses for those incarcerated individuals who qualify for Apple Care/Medicaid, 90 days prior to release; and

WHEREAS, this project is designed to prepare people for a successful transition and re-entry into their community and help reduce the rate of recidivism; and

WHEREAS, the Washington Health Care Authority has agreed to provide startup funding to build re-entry staffing and infrastructure for this agreement; and

WHEREAS, the Health Care Authority (HCA) is authorized to provide a substantial amount of capacity building funding to help facilities, therefore there is no cost to Lewis County; and

WHEREAS, it appears to be in the best public interest to authorize the execution of said agreement.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Sheriff -- or, in his absence, the Undersheriff or Corrections Chief -- is authorized to sign on behalf of Lewis County the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) Contract #K7831, which provides funding totaling up to $2,000,000 for the contract period of July 1, 2024, to July 31, 2028.
