WHEREAS, RCW 67.28.1817 states that a municipality with a population of 5,000 (five thousand) or more should establish a Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC); and

WHEREAS, the committee must include an equal number of individuals who represent businesses required to collect tax under this chapter (“providers”) and individuals involved in activities authorized to be funded by lodging tax revenue (“users”); and

WHEREAS, two individuals -- Mischa Cowles, who represented a "provider" in her role with Washington State Parks, and Mary Garrison, who represented a "user" in her role with the South County Chamber Board -- have stepped down from the committee, creating two vacancies; and

WHEREAS, Celtic Elk Campground owner Brett Burrows and Mineral Lake Lions Club President Stevan Mayer have expressed interest in filling the vacant provider and user roles, respectively; and

WHEREAS, the terms for two other LTAC members -- Morgan Arts Centre owner Diana Morgan (user position) and Little Owl Cabin owner Ryan Southard (provider position) -- have expired, and both individuals have indicated they would like to serve on LTAC again; and

WHEREAS, it is in the public's best interest to appoint individuals to serve on LTAC in four-year, staggered terms, with half of the appointments ending in even years and the other half ending in odd years; and

WHEREAS, returning to staggered terms will require adjustments to term lengths.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the BOCC hereby makes the following appointments to the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, effective immediately:
