WHEREAS, Lewis County is required to have a comprehensive plan (RCW 36.70A) and the Department of Community Development is responsible for maintaining the comprehensive plan and implementing ordinance; and

WHEREAS, Lewis County must perform review and update of the comprehensive plan and implementing ordinances by June 30, 2025 (WAC 365-196-610); and

WHEREAS, each county and city planning under the Growth Management Act must establish procedures for early and continuous public participation in the development and amendment of comprehensive plans and development regulations (WAC 365-196-600); and

WHEREAS, the Community Engagement Plan, Exhibit A, includes the procedures for early and continuous public participation in the comprehensive plan periodic update process; and

WHEREAS, the Project Charter, Exhibit B, describes roles and responsibilities of each Lewis County department during the comprehensive plan periodic update.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners has determined that it is in the public's best interest to approve the Community Engagement Plan, as shown in Exhibit A, and the Project Charter, as shown in Exhibit B.
