Approving and accepting $250,000 grant in ARPA money from the City of Centralia towards water systems upgrades at the SWW Fairgrounds.  City will reimburse up to $250,000 towards qualified expenses.

WHEREAS, the Southwest Washington (SWW) Fairgrounds serves a vital role in the community; and

WHEREAS, the current water distribution system at the Fairgrounds wastes water and is in need of upgrades; and

WHEREAS, the City of Centralia has awarded $250,000 in federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding toward the design, repair and replacement of the underground water system at the SWW Fairgrounds; and

WHEREAS, such upgrades will aid in the conservation of water while helping the SWW fairgrounds better serve the community; and

WHEREAS, obtaining ARPA funding through the City of Centralia preserves local county funds for other uses; and

WHEREAS, the agreement between the City of Centralia and Lewis County is in the public interest;.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the grant agreement between the City of Centralia and Lewis County for water system upgrades is approved, and the Parks & Recreation Administrator is authorized to sign on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC).
