MODIFY RESTRICTIONS ON OUTDOOR BURNING TO ALLOW PERMITTED BURNING THROUGHOUT LANDS REGULATED BY LEWIS COUNTY
WHEREAS, the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) concurs with the decision of the Lewis County Fire Marshal, Community Development Director and Lewis County Fire Chiefs Association that weather conditions have improved to allow open burning by permit on all unincorporated lands regulated by Lewis County effective October 9, 2023; and
WHEREAS, this modification and upgrade allow burning by permit effective at 12:01 a.m. October 9, 2023, throughout all unincorporated lands regulated by Lewis County; and
WHEREAS, the burning of debris in city limits and urban growth areas remains prohibited at all times; and
WHEREAS, previous burn permits expired and were not valid during burn restrictions. Updated burn permits will be required.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the BOCC hereby rescinds and replaces Resolution 23-306 to allow open burning by permit on all unincorporated lands regulated by Lewis County effective at 12:01 a.m. October 9, 2023, until rescinded by like resolution of the BOCC.
