Summary:

The Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) contracts with Lewis County to administer funding for substance use disorder prevention and mental health promotion services to individuals, families and communities. This is the primary source of youth substance abuse prevention funding for Lewis County Public Health and Social Services.

The purpose of this funding is to support two prevention coalitions and their work in Centralia and Morton. Typical programs funded by this contract are parent education, youth mentoring programs, special prevention events and marketing.

Wording/In the matter of:

APPROVE CONTRACT #K6952 BETWEEN THE WASHINGTON STATE HEALTH CARE AUTHORITY (HCA) AND LEWIS COUNTY

Resolution Number: 23-261

WHEREAS, the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) has reviewed Contract #K6952 between the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) and Lewis County; and

WHEREAS, Washington State Health Care Authority contracts with Lewis County to administer funding for substance use disorder prevention and mental health promotion services to individuals, families and communities; and

WHEREAS, this is the primary source of youth substance abuse prevention funding for Lewis County Public Health and Social Services; and

WHEREAS, this funding is used to support two prevention coalitions and their work in Centralia and Morton, including but not limited to parent education, youth mentoring programs, special prevention events and marketing; and

WHEREAS, the contract duration is July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2025; and

WHEREAS, the total maximum consideration for this contract is $260,000; and

WHEREAS, it appears to be in the best public interest to authorize the execution of said contract for Lewis County.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the BOCC hereby approves Contract #K6952 to provide funding up to $260,000 for the purpose of overseeing the administration of funding for substance use disorder prevention and mental health promotion services to individuals, families and communities; and authorizes the Director of Public Health & Social Services to sign the same.
