Summary:Approving Agreement No. WQAIP-2024-LeCoNW-00068 with Washington State Department of Ecology (ECOLOGY) to allow funding to Lewis County Noxious Weed Control (LCNWCB) for treatment and eradication of Egeria densa at Plummer Lake, WA. This site is believed to be the point source of all Brazilian elodea (Egeria densa) infestations in the entire upper Chehalis River basin. The agreement is effective for two years, from 07/01/2023 to 6/30/2025.

APPROVE AGREEMENT NO. WQAIP-2024-LECONW-00068 WITH THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF ECOLOGY FOR THE ERADICATION OF EGERIA DENSA AT PLUMMER LAKE IN CENTRALIA
WHEREAS, Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology) and Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board (LCNWCB), propose to enter into an Agreement, No. WQAIP-2024-LeCoNW-00068, to provide funding for treatment of Egeria densa at Plummer Lake, Wash.; and
WHEREAS, the Agreement provides for treatment of Egeria densa at Plummer Lake by adding funding from Ecology in the amount of $53,625.00, from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2025; and
WHEREAS, LCNWCB will supply an additional $17,875.00 in matching funds for the project; and
WHEREAS, the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) has had an opportunity to review the Agreement No. WQAIP-2024-LeCoNW-00068, attached; and
WHEREAS, it appears to be in the best public interest to approve and authorize this Agreement between the Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board and the Washington State Department of Ecology.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the BOCC of Lewis County hereby (1) approves of the terms and conditions of the attached Agreement No. WQAIP-2024-LeCoNW-00068, between the Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board and the Washington State Department of Ecology, and (2) authorizes the Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Program Coordinator to sign the same on behalf of the Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board.
