Resolution

WHEREAS, Lewis County provides qualifying Veterans assistance with rent, food and utilities; and

WHEREAS, the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) passed Resolution 23-028 on January 24, 2023, to increase and expand veterans benefits. The following benefit was increased starting January 1, 2023: 

• Rental assistance increased to $1,000 or 10% of the rent, whichever is lower

WHEREAS, the BOCC has reviewed the attached memo listing the updated recommendation from the Veterans Advisory Board (VAB) to increase the rental assistance to $1,000 or 75% of the rent, whichever is lower, starting February 1, 2023; and

WHEREAS, it appears to be in the best public interest to increase the benefit for qualifying Lewis County Veterans.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the BOCC hereby increases the rental assistance to $1,000 or 75% of the rent, whichever is lower, for qualifying Lewis County Veterans effective February 1, 2023.
