Summary:

The Veterans’ Advisory Board was organized per Resolution 06-189.  Per Lewis County Veterans Advisory Board bylaws, membership on the Board comprises of no less than seven regular members and two alternate members.  One regular members’ appointment has expired as of June 30, 2022.  It is proposed to:

• Reappoint Roger Morningstar as a regular member through June 30, 2024.
• Appoint Barbara Russell in William (Bill) Marshall’s expired regular term through June 30, 2024.

Due to Frank Corbin stepping down and Janice Marshall's term expiring, this leaves two vacant positions and two alternate vacant positions to be filled after further recruiting.

Resolution

WHEREAS, the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) have reviewed the memo listing recommendations from the Veterans Advisory Board (VAB) to reappoint and appoint members to the VAB; and

WHEREAS, the VAB was organized per Resolution 06-189. Per Lewis County VAB bylaws, membership on the board comprises of no less than seven regular members and two alternate members. One regular member's appointment has expired as of June 30, 2022.  It is proposed to reappoint Roger Morningstar as a regular member and appoint Barbara Russell to replace William (Bill) Marshall, both with regular terms through June 30, 2024; and

WHEREAS, due to Frank Corbin stepping down and Janice Marshall's term expiring, this leaves two vacant positions and two alternate vacant positions to be filled after further recruiting; and

WHEREAS, it appears to be in the best public interest to reappoint Roger Morningstar and to appoint Barbara Russell to the VAB.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the BOCC hereby reappoints Roger Morningstar and appoints Barbara Russell to serve on the Veterans’ Advisory Board effective immediately for terms expiring on June 30, 2024.
