WHEREAS, the Lower Columbia Fish Recovery Board (LCFRB) is a 15-member board that works with technical experts to help develop habitat recovery plans for salmon determined to be at risk of extinction; and

WHEREAS, the board includes individuals who represent local governments, the state Legislature, the Cowlitz Indian Tribe, a hydropower company, environmental interests, landowner interests and the public; and

WHEREAS, the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) appoints two individuals to the LCFRB: one is a commissioner who represents the BOCC, and the other is Lewis County citizen who represents the public; and

WHEREAS, the BOCC appointed then-Commissioner F. Lee Grose to represent the BOCC on the LCFRB via Resolution 22-071; and

WHEREAS, Commissioner Grose retired from the BOCC in November 2022, creating a vacancy on the LCFRB; and

WHEREAS, Commissioner Scott Brummer, who was elected to represent District 3 on the BOCC, has expressed a willingness to represent the BOCC on the LCFRB; and

WHEREAS, it is in the best public interest to fill the position.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the BOCC hereby appoints Lewis County Commissioner Scott J. Brummer to represent the BOCC on the LCFRB -- effective immediately -- to fill the remainder of F. Lee Grose's unexpired term; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED Commissioner Brummer's term on the LCFRB will end Dec. 31, 2026.
