Resolution

WHEREAS, on or about April 13, 2022, a leak was discovered in the hot water boiler suppling domestic hot water to the lower housing area of the Lewis County Jail; and

WHEREAS, subsequent investigation has determined that the boiler is not repairable and that total failure is imminent; and

WHEREAS, the daily use of the hot water boiler is vital to the safe operation of the Lewis County Jail; and

WHEREAS, a price quotation for a replacement system has been obtained as follows:

JRT Mechanical: $108,761.00, plus tax; and

WHEREAS, the quote appears reasonable.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners finds that an emergency exists and authorizes the Department of Internal Services to dispense with normal vendor selection and/or call for bid requirements as authorized under RCW 36.32.270 to secure the replacement unit; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the purchase of the gas boiler unit be awarded to JRT Mechanical.
