Summary:Approving Agreement No. 22-PA-11060300-010, allowing funding for further cooperation between the two agencies for the purpose of noxious weed management. The Agreement creates funding in the amount of $10,000.00 and is effective through November 30, 2024. The purpose of the agreement is to document the cooperation between the parties to stop the spread of noxious weed species, reduce existing populations and prevent the introduction of additional invasive plant species throughout Lewis County.

APPROVE AGREEMENT NO. 22-PA-11060300-010 WITH THE USDA FOREST SERVICE, GIFFORD PINCHOT NATIONAL FOREST, TO ADD FUNDING TOTALING $10,000.00 EFFECTIVE THROUGH NOVEMBER 30, 2024
WHEREAS, the United States government (through the USDA Forest Service, Gifford Pinchot National Forest) and Lewis County propose to enter into an agreement to address the management of noxious weeds, through Agreement No. 22-PA-11060300-010; and
WHEREAS, the agreement provides for the management of noxious weeds in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, by allocating funding in the amount of $10,000.00 and establishes the performance period as being through November 30, 2024, with the option to extend the effective dates through modifications, between Lewis County and the USDA Forest Service; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) has had an opportunity to review Agreement No. 22-PA-11060300-010, attached; and
WHEREAS, it appears to be in the best public interest to approve and authorize this Stewardship Agreement, with the USDA Forest Service, Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the BOCC of Lewis County (1) hereby approves of the terms and conditions of the attached Stewardship Agreement No. 22-PA-11060300-010, between Lewis County and the USDA Forest Service, Gifford Pinchot National Forest, and (2) hereby authorizes the Chair of the BOCC to sign the same on behalf of the county.
