Summary:

The County continually seeks to save money and leverage its purchasing power through a rigorous process to determine the best and most cost-effective way to purchase and replace technology equipment for its users. As a local governmental agency, the County can purchase and replace these products at a significantly reduced rate through state negotiated pricing. Dell Inc. offers an even greater value for larger bulk purchases. This resolution authorizes the Information Technology Services Director or his designee, to sign a purchase order with Dell, for a bulk computer replacement purchase, and significantly reduce the cost of replacing County computer systems.

Resolution

WHEREAS, the county has approximately 750 computer systems deployed across its networks; and

WHEREAS, as a local governmental agency, Lewis County has the ability to purchase these products at a discounted rate through the Department of Enterprise Solutions (DES); and

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved the purchase and ongoing equipment replacement and repair through the IT Services inter-fund rates; and

WHEREAS, the BOCC has granted department directors the authority to bind the county in amounts totaling $50,000 to $200,000 with BOCC approval, as outlined in Resolution No. 21-038.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BOCC hereby ratifies the Director of Information Technology Services, or his designee, to complete a purchase order with Dell Technologies that is in excess of the above-mentioned $50,000 limitation.
