APPROVE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN LEWIS COUNTY AND LEWIS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL TO FACILITATE AND PLAN STAKEHOLDER MEETINGS AS IT RELATES TO STRATEGIC INFRASTRUCTURE INITIATIVES TIED TO THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN ACT FUNDS (ARPA)
WHEREAS, Lewis County has been awarded direct federal funding through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 to respond to the public health emergency with respect to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID–19) or its negative economic impacts, including assistance to households, small businesses, and nonprofits, or aid to impacted industries such as tourism, travel, and hospitality, respond to workers performing essential work during the COVID–19 public health emergency by providing premium pay, for the provision of government services to the extent of the reduction in revenue of such county due to the COVID–19 public health emergency, to make necessary investments in water, sewer, or broadband infrastructure during the period of March 1, 2021, through December 31, 2024; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest if Lewis County to work with local organizations and businesses to respond to the public health emergency with respect to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID–19) or its negative economic impacts, including assistance to households, small businesses, and nonprofits, or aid to impacted industries such as tourism, travel, and hospitality; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), Lewis County, Washington, has reviewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Lewis County and Lewis Economic Development Council for the period of May 18, 2021, through May 1, 2023; and
WHEREAS, it would be in the best interest of the residents for the County to approve the MOU with LEDC to provide services as outlined in exhibit A: Statement of Work and Reporting Requirements upon receipt of American Rescue Plan Act Funds.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the MOU between Lewis Economic Development Council and Lewis County is hereby approved in the amount of $300,000 and the County Manager is authorized to sign the same.
